Getting started
What is Whole Scroll?
Whole Scroll is a Chrome extension. It captures the whole page, the screen you see, a region you drag, or one element you click, then opens the picture so you can mark it up and save a PNG, JPG, or PDF.
I installed it, but I do not see the icon.
Click the puzzle piece at the right of the address bar. Find Whole Scroll and pin it. The icon then stays on the toolbar.
Is there a keyboard shortcut?
Alt+Shift+F starts a full-page capture. Other shortcuts can be set at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Capture
Which capture should I use?
- Full page scrolls the page and stitches the views into one tall image.
- Visible area keeps only what is on screen now.
- Delayed shot waits 3 seconds, so a menu or a tip has time to open.
- Select region: drag a box.
- Select element: move over a heading, a picture, or a paragraph, then click.
The page did not scroll, or the shot is incomplete.
Chrome does not let an extension read some pages, including browser settings and the Chrome Web Store. A page that scrolls itself, or a PDF opened in the browser, can also come out short. Scroll the page once so the content has loaded, then capture again. If it is still wrong, email the page address.
Where do the pictures go?
The latest 30 shots stay in this browser, on this computer. Open them from History in the Whole Scroll menu. A file you download goes to your downloads folder. Taking a screenshot does not upload the page or the image.
Editor
What can I add to the picture?
Highlight a line, write a note, place an emoji, add an arrow or a step number, or draw a shape. Blur or pixelate a detail. Frame the shot as a macOS or Windows window, or add the page address and the date. Then save a PNG, a JPG, or a PDF.
Does text recognition send the page away?
No. Recognize selection reads the words inside a box you drag. Recognition runs in the browser. The picture and the recognized text stay on this computer.
The picture looks small.
The editor fits the capture on the screen. Zoom in to look closer. The file you download is the captured image, not the small view.
Plan and payment
What can I save for free?
A PNG or JPG you have not edited is free. A PDF, or a save made after you annotate, blur, pixelate, recognize text, or add a frame, date, or watermark, uses one of 6 free saves.
What does the trial cost after that?
You can start a 7-day trial. If you keep it, the price is $8 a year. You can cancel whenever you want. After you cancel, you are not charged for the next year, and access continues until the end of the time already paid.
How do I cancel or change the card?
Sign in at the account page and open Manage plan. That page is where the subscription is changed. Removing the extension does not cancel the subscription.
I do not recognize a charge.
Email [email protected] from the address on the account. Include the date and the amount. Do not send a card number.
